Files and sharing

Take and upload photos from your phone, find files, send public share links, and ask customers for photos.

Every job, contact, and work order has a Photos & files section, and More → Files searches all of them. Photos you upload are saved to JobNimbus. Share links and photo links are saved in roofingBoss only, the same as in the dashboard.

Add photos to a record

  1. On a job, contact, or work order, scroll to Photos & files and tap Add photos.
  2. Tap Take photo or Choose from library.
  3. Review the photos. Tap Take photo or Add more for more, or remove one you don't want.
  4. Add a Note if you like. It's saved as the description on each photo.
  5. Tap Upload 3 photos (the count matches your photos).

Each photo shows Uploading and then Uploaded. If some fail, tap Retry 1 failed. Photos are saved to JobNimbus and attached to the record. The first time, your phone asks for access to the camera or your photos.

Photos & files shows the newest photos in a grid and documents in a list. Tap Show all for more, or Search all files when there are more than it shows. Tap a file to open it.

Find a file

More → Files lists files added in the last 90 days, newest first. Older files and updated dates load from JobNimbus a page at a time as you scroll.

  • Search with Search files.
  • The chips are Added by me, Photos, Documents, and Measurements.
  • Filters has File type, Added by (Only files I added or pick People), and Date.
  • The sort button sorts by Newest first, Oldest first, Largest first, or Smallest first.

Open a file

Tap a file to see a preview of a photo, or a PDF or document icon. Then:

  • View photo, View PDF, or Open opens the file full size.
  • Download opens it in your phone's browser so you can save it.
  • Share sends a public link. See Share a work order or file.

Below are its Description, the Related job, contact, or work order (tap to open it), and Details such as type, size, and who added it. When you opened the file from a list, the arrows, or a swipe across the preview, step through that list.

Share a work order or file

A share link lets anyone open a read-only page without signing in. A work order's page shows a summary without costs or margins. A file's page lets them view or download the file. See Share links for exactly what a link shows.

  1. On the work order or file, tap Share.
  2. Under Link expires, pick how long it works. Work orders start at No expiry, files at 30 days.
  3. Tap Create share link. The link is created and copied.
  4. Paste it in a message, or tap Share… to send it from your phone. Preview public page shows what they'll see.

The same sheet lists the links already made for the record, each with Copy link, Share link, and Revoke link. On a work order, Copy team link copies a link that opens the work order in roofingBoss for teammates who sign in.

A work order's summary includes its internal note. Read it before you send a share link to a customer.

More → Share links (also under Settings) lists every share link on the account.

  • Search with Search by record, creator, or link, and pick All, Active, Expired, or Revoked.
  • Tap a link for Copy link, Share…, Open public page, Open work order or Open file, and Revoke link.

Revoking a link stops it working right away, for everyone who has it. It can't be undone. Make a new link if you need to share again.

Ask the customer for photos

Use this when you want photos of the problem before the crew goes out. It works like asking for photos in the dashboard.

  1. On a work order, under Customer photos, tap Request photos.
  2. Change What should we ask them? if you like.
  3. Tap Text or share to send it from your phone, or Copy link to paste it yourself.

The customer opens the link in a browser on any phone, tablet, or computer, with no sign-in. The link works for 14 days. Their photos are saved to JobNimbus on the work order and its job or contact.

Each link under the buttons has Copy, Share, Preview, and Turn off link. Turning a link off keeps the photos already sent. You can also request photos right after you create a work order.
