Lose your connection
What the dashboard and customer portal do when your internet drops, and how your changes save once it's back.
If your internet drops while you're working, the dashboard keeps what's already on screen and waits for the connection to come back. A bar under the top of the page says You're offline. and goes away on its own once you're back online.
Keep working while you're offline
- Pages and records you already opened stay on screen, so you can keep reading them.
- Searching and filtering lists that already loaded keeps working.
- Clicking a link to another page waits instead of showing your browser's "no internet" page. The page opens once the connection is back. After a long outage, the sign-in page may flash for a moment first. You don't need to sign in again.
- Lists and records you haven't opened yet can't load until you're back online.
Save changes while you're offline
Most saves you make while offline (a note, a status change, a new task) wait instead of failing. The offline bar counts what's waiting, for example 1 change is waiting to save. When the connection comes back, each waiting change saves on its own, and you don't need to click Save again.
The same happens if the connection drops in the middle of a save. If a save shows an error instead, try it again once you're back online.
Waiting changes live only in the open tab. Don't close or reload that tab until the offline bar is gone. If you try while changes are waiting, your browser asks you to confirm leaving, and leaving loses them.
What doesn't work offline
- Reloading the page, or opening the dashboard in a new tab, needs the internet. Your browser shows its own offline page.
- Uploading photos and files can fail if the connection drops. Upload them again once you're back online.
In the customer portal
Customers see the same offline bar in the portal, and pages they already opened stay on screen.
