Lists and filters
Filters, date ranges, sorting, columns, views, saved lists, and bulk edits. They work the same on every list page.
Jobs, Contacts, Work Orders, Tasks, Estimates, Invoices, Payments, Activities, and Files are all list pages. They share the controls on this page. Each area's own page covers the filters that only it has.
| Control | Where you'll find it |

Search and filter
- Type in the search box at the top of the list, such as Search jobs..., and press Enter or click Search.
- Add filters from the buttons above the list. On Jobs, click + Filter to pick a quick filter (Status, Stage, Sales Rep, Job Type, Date) or any other job field. On Work Orders, Custom field adds a custom-field filter.
- Each active filter shows as a chip. Click a chip to change it, click its × to remove it, or click Clear all (Clear All Filters on some pages) to remove every filter.
Filters, sort, and page are part of the page's web address. Bookmark the page or copy the link to come back to the same list.
Filter by date
- Click the date button. It reads Filter by date when no date filter is on. On Jobs, click + Filter, then Date.
- Under Date field, pick which date to filter on, such as Date Created or Start Date. Custom date fields are listed under Custom.
- Under Match, pick Between, Before, or After.
- Pick a preset, or pick the days on the calendar.
To remove it, click the × on the date button, or pick Clear selection in the preset list.
Between includes every record on the first and last days. Pick from Preset range or set Date range. The presets are Today, Yesterday, This Week (Mon - Sun), Next Week (Mon - Sun), Last Week (Mon - Sun), This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, Last Quarter, This Year, Last Year, and All Time. All Time runs from January 1, 2021 through today.
Before and After compare against one day, and that day itself isn't included. Pick a day under Date, or a Preset such as Before this month or After last week:
- A Before preset means before the period starts. Before last week is everything earlier than last Monday.
- An After preset means after the period ends. After last week is everything later than last Sunday.
The chip shows the real dates, such as before Oct 1, 2026.
Presets roll with the calendar. A filter set to This Month always means the current month, even in a saved list or a bookmark. Days you pick on the calendar stay fixed.
Sort and choose columns
- Click a column header to sort by it. Click it again to reverse the order. An arrow shows the direction. A few columns can't be sorted.
- To show or hide columns, open View options on Jobs, View Columns on Contacts, or Columns on the other pages. On Jobs, Reset goes back to the standard columns and Show all turns every column on.
- On Jobs and Work Orders, drag the grip at the left of a column header to move the column.
- Choose 10, 20, 50, or 100 rows per page from the page-size menu (in View options on Jobs).
On Jobs and Work Orders, the columns you show, their order, and the sort are part of the link and saved with a saved list.
Export to CSV
Click Export CSV next to the column settings to download the list as a CSV file. It opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets. On Jobs, Work Orders, and Tasks, the button is in the Table view.
- The file holds every record that matches your search and filters, not only the page you're on, in the list's sort order.
- It has the columns you're showing, in the same order, with the values you see on screen: names instead of IDs, and dates as MM/DD/YYYY. Show or hide columns first to change what's in the file.
- If you've ticked rows on Jobs, Contacts, Work Orders, or Tasks, only those rows are exported.
- An export holds up to 10,000 records. Narrow the filters to export the rest.
- On Jobs, Work Orders, Tasks, Estimates, Invoices, and Payments, a long list takes a few seconds to gather while the button shows Exporting….
Exporting only downloads a file. Nothing changes in JobNimbus. Products has its own export, described in Products.
Switch views
Use the Table / Kanban / Calendar buttons at the top right. The view you pick is part of the link and is saved with a list.
Show a Kanban board full screen
On Jobs or Work Orders, switch to Kanban and click Full screen. The board fills the window with taller columns, which works well on an office TV.
- Click the expand button in its top bar (Full screen (hide browser chrome)) to hide the browser's own bars too.
- Press Esc or click Close (Esc) to leave. If the browser bars are hidden, the first Esc brings them back and the second closes the board.
Hide the stats cards
Jobs and Payments show summary cards above the list. Click the arrow at the top right of the cards (Hide stats), or press Ctrl + . (⌘ + . on a Mac). They shrink to one line with the same numbers. Click that line to bring the cards back. roofingBoss remembers your choice in this browser, and phones start with the cards hidden.
Saved lists
A saved list stores everything about how a list looks: filters, sort, columns and their order, view, and page size. Everyone on the team can open it, so a list like "QC backlog – not scheduled" can be the team's shared to-do. Saved lists are on Jobs and Work Orders, and they're saved in roofingBoss only.
On a wide screen, lists sit in a column on the right. Click the panel button at its top to shrink it to a slim Lists strip, and click it again to bring it back. On a phone or narrow window, tap Lists to open them.
Save a list
- Set up the filters, sort, columns, and view you want.
- In the This view box at the top of the column, click Save as list.
- Enter a Name. Add a Team (lists are grouped by team) and a Description (shown while the list is open) if you like.
- Click Save list.
Open and change a list
Click a list to open it. Each one shows how many records it holds. Search with Name, team, or description. Click All jobs (or All work orders) to clear every filter.
If you change anything while a list is open, This view shows Edited:
- Save changes updates the list for everyone.
- Save as new saves your changes as a separate list.
- Discard goes back to the saved version.
When no list is open, changed filters show Unsaved filters. The filters Jobs starts with show as Default filters.
List options
Click … on a list for:
- Pin to my lists: adds it to your own Pinned group at the top of All lists. Drag pinned lists to reorder them. Only you see your pins.
- Open when I visit Jobs (or Work Orders): opens this list whenever you go to that page. This only changes it for you.
- Copy link: a link that opens the list with its latest saved filters.
- Edit name and details, Duplicate, and Delete list.
Delete list removes the list for everyone on the team, including anyone who pinned it. It can't be undone.
Group lists into collections
A collection groups the lists one role works, such as Production or Project manager. A collection can hold other collections, so Executive can contain Project manager and Quality control.
- Under Collections, click New collection.
- Enter a Name and a Description.
- Tick the Lists and Collections to include, and use the arrows to order them.
- Click Save collection.
Click a collection to expand it. Its … menu has Edit collection and Delete collection. Deleting a collection keeps the lists inside it.
Arrange your collections
Every saved list is also in the All lists group under Collections. Your pinned lists sit at the top of it, and the rest are grouped by team. Click a group's name to expand or collapse it, so you can close All lists and work from one collection.
- To move a collection or All lists, drag the grip at its left, or click its … and pick Move up or Move down.
- Only the top level moves this way. To order the lists inside a collection, use Edit collection.
- The order is yours. It follows you to any computer and doesn't change anyone else's column. Which groups are open is remembered in this browser.
- Reordering is off while you search.
Bulk edits
Change many records at once on Jobs, Contacts, Work Orders, and Tasks.
- Tick the box at the start of each row, or the box in the header row to select the whole page.
- To go past this page on Jobs, Contacts, or Tasks, click Select all … matching in the bar above the table, such as Select all 240 matching jobs. Up to 10,000 records can be selected.
- Click Bulk Update in the selection bar. It sits at the bottom of the screen, or above the list on Contacts.
- Tick each field you want to change and set its new value. Fields you leave unticked aren't touched.
- Click the update button. It shows the count, such as Update 12 Jobs.
Bulk updates are saved to JobNimbus. Big selections run in batches of 25, so give them a moment. Click Clear (Clear Selection on Contacts) to unselect everything.
On Jobs and Contacts, the selection bar also has Delete. Deleted records leave the list and can be restored in JobNimbus.
