Material orders

Order materials for a job from your product catalog, and find, edit, or delete JobNimbus material orders.

A material order lists the products a job needs from a supplier, with quantities, prices, and a delivery date. Open them from Sidebar → Operations → Material Orders, or from the MO tab on a job.

Material orders are saved to JobNimbus, so they also show up in JobNimbus and its mobile app. roofingBoss doesn't send orders to suppliers. To place the order with a supplier, use JobNimbus's supplier ordering or contact the supplier yourself.

Find a material order

The table starts with the newest orders first and shows Number, Job, Status, Supplier, Delivery date, Total, Cost, Created by, and Created. Click a column header to sort by it, and click it again to flip the order. Click a job name to open that job.

All statusesthe status is one you ticked, such as Draft or Sent
All suppliersthe supplier is one you ticked. No supplier finds orders without one.
All jobsthe order belongs to the job you picked. Type to search the jobs that have orders.

Filters you set appear as chips under the filter bar. Click a chip's × to remove it, or click Clear all. Filters, sort, and the page are part of the page link, so you can share a filtered list.

The note above the table says how many orders roofingBoss has loaded and when. If an order created a moment ago is missing, click Refresh.

Create a material order

  1. Click Create Material Order.
  2. Under Related Job *, click Search for a job... and pick the job. When you start from a job's MO tab, the job is already filled in.
  3. Optional: type the Supplier, such as ABC Supply, and pick a Delivery Date.
  4. Add line items (see below).
  5. Optional: add an Internal Note, which only your team sees, and a Customer Note.
  6. Click Create Material Order.

A message confirms the new order number. Create Material Order stays grayed out until you've picked a job and added a product. New orders start as Draft in JobNimbus.

Add line items

Each line comes from your product catalog.

  1. In Item #1, click Search products... and type at least two characters.
  2. Pick the product. Its price, cost, and unit fill in from the catalog. A labor product fills in its labor price.
  3. Change Qty, Price, Cost, or UOM if this order needs something different.
  4. Click Add Item for the next line. Click the trash icon to remove a line.

The box under the lines shows the order's Cost and Subtotal. Changing a price here only affects this order.

To group lines, for example Shingles and Accessories, click Add Section under Sections, name it, then pick it in each line's Section box. Sections work the same as on estimates.

Open a material order

Click a row to open the order. Use the arrows beside Material order 3 of 20 to step through the list.

  • Header: the number, status, and an Archived label when JobNimbus has archived it, then the job (click it to open the job), the supplier, and the delivery date.
  • Totals: Subtotal, Cost, and Total. Tax and Delivery fee appear when they're turned on for the order in JobNimbus.
  • Details: supplier, delivery date, Delivery time and PO when a supplier order set them, who created it, and when it was created, updated, and last changed status.
  • Line items: every product with its quantity, unit, price, cost, and amount, grouped under its sections.
  • Internal note and Customer note, when the order has them.

Edit a material order

  1. Open the order and click Edit.
  2. Change the Supplier, Delivery Date, line items, sections, or notes. The job can't be changed.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Only what you changed is saved to JobNimbus. The status is shown but can't be changed here. Change it in JobNimbus.

Delete a material order

A deleted material order disappears from roofingBoss and JobNimbus for everyone. To get it back, restore it in JobNimbus.

  1. Open the order and click Delete.
  2. In Delete Material Order #…?, click Delete, or Cancel to keep it.
