Tasks
Create, find, update, and delete JobNimbus tasks, change many at once, and drag scheduled tasks around a calendar.
The Tasks page shows every JobNimbus task in a table or on a calendar. Open it from Sidebar → Tasks, and switch views with Table and Calendar at the top right. Tasks you create, change, or delete here are saved to JobNimbus.
Create a task
- Click New task at the top right.
- Enter a Title.
- Pick a Type. The list comes from your JobNimbus account and starts on Task.
- Optionally set a Priority (None, High, Medium, or Low) and a Description.
- Under Owners, pick who the task is for. It starts with you.
- Under Schedule, set the start and end. It starts as today, all day; untick All day event to add times.
- To link the task to a record, search for a Job, a Contact, or both. Click × next to one to unlink it.
- Click Create task.
The new task opens in its detail sheet. JobNimbus can take a few seconds to add it to the table and to My open tasks on the dashboard.
To add a task to one job, open the job, go to its Tasks tab, and click Add task. The form opens with that job already linked. See Job details.
Filter the list
- Status: Open, Completed, or both.
- Priority: None, High, Medium, or Low.
- Owners: tick one or more people.
- Date (the button with the calendar icon): filter by Created Date, Updated, Start Date, or End Date.
- Search tasks...: type and press Enter to match the task number, title, description, creator, or related job.
Each filter shows as a chip under the toolbar. Click its × to remove it, or Clear all. Click a column heading to sort. Columns adds End Date, Created, Updated, and Created By; Reset to default puts the default set back.
Search only looks through the tasks already loaded on the current page. Narrow the list with the filters first, or raise the page size, when you're hunting for one task.
Open and edit a task
Click a row, or a task on the calendar, to open its detail sheet. Picking a task in global search opens the same sheet.
The sheet shows the description, start and end, whether it's all day, estimated and actual time, record type, owners, and who created it. Click the title to open the task in JobNimbus. Under Related, Open takes you to the related job or work order in roofingBoss, and the Open in JobNimbus icon opens it there. Copy link copies a link to this task that works for anyone signed in to roofingBoss.
To change the task:
- Click Edit.
- Change the Title, Description, or Priority, or tick Mark as completed.
- Under Owners, open the list and tick or untick team members.
- Under Schedule, set the start and end, or tick All day event to use dates only.
- Click Save. Click Cancel to throw your changes away.
Delete a task
A deleted task disappears from task lists, calendars, and jobs for everyone. You can't undo a delete here. To get the task back, restore it in JobNimbus.
- Open the task's detail sheet.
- Click Delete next to Edit.
- Read the Delete this task? confirmation and click Delete task, or Cancel to keep it.
The sheet closes and the task leaves the list.
Update many tasks at once
- Tick the box on each task, or the box in the header for the whole page.
- To go past one page, click Select all N matching tasks in the banner. This isn't offered while a search is active.
- In the bar at the bottom of the screen, click Bulk Update.
- Tick what to change:
- Update Status: Open or Completed.
- Update Priority: None, High, Medium, or Low.
- Update Owners: choose people, then Add additional owners to keep everyone already assigned, or Replace all owners to assign only the people you chose.
- Click Update N Tasks.
Large selections save in batches of 25 while the button counts up. Stay on the page until it finishes. See also Bulk edits.
Reschedule tasks on the calendar
- Click Calendar. It opens on the current week. Use Month, Week, Day, and List to change the view, and Today to jump back.
- Drag a task to move it. Drag its edge to change how long it runs.
Each move saves to JobNimbus and shows Task schedule updated. Your filters apply to the calendar too.
What appears on the calendar:
- Only tasks with a start date. Tasks hidden from the calendar in JobNimbus stay hidden.
- Each task takes its first owner's calendar color, or a priority color when the owner has none.
- All-day tasks show as blocks across business hours. The note under the calendar says which hours, from your location's settings or the default.
- Up to 200 matching tasks at a time. If more match, the note under the calendar says so; narrow your filters to see the rest.
A task that spans several days can only be moved from its first day or shortened from its last day. If you drag a day in the middle, Can't reschedule a middle day explains the options. To change anything else about the range, edit the start and end in the task's detail sheet.
