Job details

Open a job to edit it in place, tag it, manage its contacts, see related records and files, log activity, add tasks, files, work orders, and material orders, or delete it.

The job detail sheet shows everything about one job and lets you edit it without leaving the list. Every change you make here is saved to JobNimbus. On a phone, the sheet opens as a drawer from the bottom of the screen.

Open a job

  • From the Jobs page: click a table row, a Kanban card, or a calendar event. Use the arrows beside Job 3 of 20 to step through the list without closing the sheet.
  • From global search: pick a job. It opens straight to its sheet on the Jobs page.
  • From a work order: click the job's name to open the job on top of the work order. Ctrl-click (⌘-click on a Mac) opens it on the Jobs page in a new tab instead.

If the job was deleted or you don't have access, you see "Couldn't load that job. It may have been deleted or you may not have access."

What's on the sheet

  • Header: the job name, status, job type, and job number, then the sales rep, address, mobile phone, and date created. Click the job name to open the job in JobNimbus in a new tab. When the job is linked to a CompanyCam project, a CompanyCam link opens the project's photos. Delete is on the right.
  • Left side: Financial Summary (estimate total, invoice total, amount due, and last estimate), Job Details, Address, Custom Fields, and Contacts (every contact on the job, then the primary contact's email and phone numbers). The financial summary is read-only.
  • Right side: tabs for the job's related records.

Edit a field

Each row under Job Details, Address, and Custom Fields is edited on its own.

  1. Point at the row. A pencil appears.
  2. Click the row to open its editor.
  3. Change the value.
  4. Click the green check, or press Enter, to save. To back out, click the red X or press Esc.

Only that field is saved to JobNimbus, and a message such as "Status saved" confirms it. If the save fails, the reason appears under the row and your change stays in the editor so you can fix it. One row can be open at a time.

ScheduleA start and end date, each with an optional time. Leave both times blank for an all-day job. The job's place on the calendar follows.

AddressStart typing the street and pick a suggestion to fill in the city, state, and ZIP. You can also type each part.

Created By, Last Updated, and Status Changed are read-only.

Assign a team to the job

Assigned To is the job's assigned team in JobNimbus. It's separate from the sales rep and can hold several people.

  1. Click the Assigned To row.
  2. Click the team member box.
  3. Search with Search team... and click names to add or remove them. Clear all removes everyone.
  4. Click the green check.

People who are no longer active but are already on the job stay in the list, marked "inactive", so saving doesn't drop them by accident.

Tag a job

Tags are labels you can filter jobs by, such as a storm or a program. They're saved to JobNimbus.

  1. Click the Tags row.
  2. Type a tag in Add a tag... and press Enter, or click one of the tags under the box. Those are tags already used on other jobs.
  3. To take a tag off, click the × on it.
  4. Click the green check to save.

Tags ignore capitals, so "vip" and "VIP" are the same tag. If you type a tag the team already uses with different capitals, roofingBoss uses the team's spelling. Tags someone else added to the job after you opened it are kept when you save. To list jobs by tag, see Filter by tag.

Fill in custom fields

Only custom fields with a value are listed. To fill in an empty one, click Show all empty custom fields. Click Hide all empty custom fields to put them away again. Your browser remembers the choice, and it applies to work orders and contacts too.

The editor matches the field: a Yes/No switch, a date picker, a number box, or a dropdown, where — None — clears the value. Fields that hold people, such as Project Manager(s) or Crew Leader(s), let you pick JobNimbus users.

Manage the job's contacts

Contacts lists the primary contact first, marked Primary, then everyone else linked to the job, such as an HOA or property manager added by a scheduler request. Click a name to open the contact in JobNimbus. Every change here is saved to JobNimbus.

To add a contact:

  1. Click Add contact.
  2. Click the search box and type part of a name, email, or phone number. The All types menu narrows the results to one contact type.
  3. Click the contact.
  4. Click Add to job. Cancel closes the search without adding anyone.

If the job has no primary contact, the first contact you add becomes primary.

To change the primary contact, click Make primary on that contact's row. The old primary contact stays on the job.

To remove a contact, click the × on its row, then Remove. Keep backs out. The contact itself isn't deleted. You can't remove the primary contact, so make someone else primary first.

The email and phone numbers under the list belong to the primary contact. If JobNimbus doesn't make a change, a message says so, such as "JobNimbus kept the contact on the job. Remove it in JobNimbus."

The tabs on the right show what's linked to the job. The number on a tab is how many records it has.

See and upload files

The Files tab lists the job's photos and documents, newest first. When the strip above the list reads Files from the last 90 days, click Show older files to load the rest from JobNimbus. Click a file to open it, share it, or step through the job's files.

To add photos or documents, click Upload. The files are saved to JobNimbus on this job. See Upload files.

  4. Click Create Material Order.

The new material order is saved to JobNimbus and shows in the MO tab right away. For the form itself, see Material orders.

Delete a job

A deleted job disappears from job lists, calendars, and search for everyone. You can't undo a delete here. To get the job back, restore it in JobNimbus.

  1. Click Delete in the header.
  2. Read the Delete this job? confirmation. It names the job and its number. When the job has money on it, a red warning shows how much is invoiced and still due, or the approved estimate.
  3. Click Delete job, or Cancel to keep the job.

The sheet closes and the job leaves the list. Its estimates, invoices, work orders, tasks, and payments aren't deleted with it. To delete several jobs at once, see Delete jobs.
