Estimates

Find estimates, check their profit, read line items by section, and edit or convert them.

The Estimates page lists every JobNimbus estimate you can see, with totals and profit percentages. Open it from Sidebar → Estimating → Estimates.

From the top of the page you can also create an estimate (Create New Estimate) and manage reusable line-item sets (Templates).

Find an estimate

  1. Type in Search estimates... and press Enter. Search matches the estimate number, sales rep, creator, status, customer, and related job.
  2. Narrow the list with the filters next to the search box:
    • Status: Draft, Sent, Approved, Denied, Invoiced, Void. Pick as many as you like, or Select All.
    • Sales Rep: one or more active users.
    • Filter by date: choose a date field (Created Date, Updated, Estimate Date, Status Change, Sign Requested, or Signed Date) and a range.

Active filters show as chips under the toolbar. Click the × on a chip to remove one, or Clear all to reset. The date filter works the same as on other lists; see Lists and filters.

Click a column header with arrows to sort by it. Click again to reverse the order. Use the number box at the right of the toolbar to show 10, 20, 50, or 100 estimates per page.

Choose columns

Click Columns and check the columns you want. Reset to default brings back the standard set.

Filters, sort, and columns are part of the page address, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same view.

Read the profit columns

roofingBoss shows two profit figures for each estimate, both based on the estimate's total and cost:

  • Est. Gross Profit % is profit as a share of the price: (total − cost) ÷ total. A $10,000 estimate that costs $6,000 is 40%.
  • Est. Markup % is profit as a share of the cost: (total − cost) ÷ cost. The same estimate is 66.7%.

When an estimate has no cost, Est. Gross Profit % shows a dash and Est. Markup % shows the figure JobNimbus stored for the estimate.

Open an estimate

Click any row to open the estimate panel.

  • The header shows the number, status, signature status, total, and both profit percentages. Click Estimate #… to open the estimate in JobNimbus.
  • Edit, Create invoice, and Create work order sit under the header. See Edit or convert an estimate.
  • Use the arrows at the top to step to the previous or next estimate in your list (Estimate 3 of 20).
  • Financial Summary: Total, Subtotal, Tax, Cost, and both percentages.
  • Estimate Details: sales rep, creator, and the estimate, created, updated, and status-change dates.
  • Signature: shown when the estimate was sent for signature, with the requested and signed dates.
  • Related Records: the job (with a link to it in JobNimbus) and the contact.

The tabs on the right hold more detail:

TabWhat it shows
OverviewTotal, cost, profit percentages, line-item count, subtotal, and tax.
ItemsEvery line item with quantity, unit, cost, price, and amount, grouped under its section heading. Items that aren't in a section come first, without a heading.
ActivityNotes and other activity attached to the estimate.

On a phone the panel opens from the bottom of the screen. The details move to a Summary tab, and line items show as cards instead of a table.

You can open the same panel from a job: open the job, then its Est tab. See Jobs.
